Questions from and responses to citizens:
Q: About crime issues in Fox Hill
TweetFrom Mark Rosati:
This is not so much a question, but a concern that we feel should be brought to your attention. As a military family, we have lived in numerous neighborhoods throughout the world. Three years ago we moved from Little Rock Arkansas, to Hampton’s Fox Hill neighborhood. Fox Hill was presented to us as a neighborhood with unique history, relatively free of crime, and with great schools.
Our concern is this, since October, in the subdivision of Fox Hill Meadows, and more specifically at the end of Essex Park Dr., there has been a shooting and most recently three vehicles vandalized. In addition, we haven’t heard of any resolution ensuing in the apprehension of the shooter(s). As a community, what can we do to overcome this trend and get our neighborhood back to the safe, positive area we once cherished?
Response:
Mr. Rosati,
In an effort to keep our citizens informed of what is going on in their community, the Police Division’s Community Relations Unit passed out flyers door to door advising Essex Park and Fox Hill area residents of the recent larcenies to unlocked vehicles. Several detectives have been assigned to these cases and they are diligently working to identify the suspect(s) responsible for the larcenies and vandalisms to vehicles. Officers on the shifts have also been put on alert. If they see anything suspicious during the late evening hours, such as an open garage door or an unlocked car, they have been knocking on doors to alert the homeowner. We have taken an active approach and our officers have remained diligent in vigorously patrolling this area.
The Police Division is also working closely with the Neighborhood Office to listen to residents’ concerns and take the appropriate action to help manage the issues in their neighborhoods. Our Police Division and Neighborhood Office staff would be glad to work with the Essex Park and Fox Hill area residents to look at both short and long term issues impacting your neighborhoods and develop a viable plan to address these issues.
Thank you again for your question.
Chief Chuck Jordan
Hampton Police Division
